Ok!
So after a very emotional goodbye Natalie and I set off on our adventure :-)
After drying our tears we sat down for something to eat and a well deserved beer! We then managed to forget to draw our currency so when we were supposed to board the plane it was an almighty rush to exchange some money. Finally boarding the plane we settled down for our 11 hour journey to Bangkok woo!
On arrival at Bangkok we sought the cheapest mode of transport possible to get us to the Koh San rd, this consisted of a man and his wife in a clapped out old people carrier.......suffice to say we did fear for our lives a little bit haha but all was well and we were dropped at the top of the Koh San Rd safe and sound......here came the hard part....finding our hotel! Loaded with our extremely heavy backpacks we started to walk down the Koh San road and couldnt get a hold of George so we struggled and struggled and then gave in and boarded a tuk tuk to take us to our hotel, at which point George tapped Nats on the shoulder and i turned around to see him, Natalie still bemused that it was him! Too late the tuk tuk had driven off around the one way system, very funny!
Once we had located the hotel and a confused looking George we sat down to chat with George whilst freshening up to meet Natalie and Nick for our first thai meal and a few cheeky beers. After these cheeky beers we all thought it would be a good idea to go and see a ping pong show, this was not the sport kind.......lets just say it was interesting! haha! Definatley an experience!
After yet another emotional goodbye as Nat and Nick were flying off to Phuket, me,Nat and George went off for a few more drinks, fab night.
The following day was very chilled for us girls whilst George shopped for a new camera, then yet another sad goodbye to George!
aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh now we really were on our own! After a look around the shops i decided to have a thai massage, $4 for an hour bargain. We then got an early(ish) night to set us up for the tour ahead.
We left the next day to find our new hotel which happened to be in the old town so a short trek but at leats it was getting us used to trekking with our rucks.
After checking in we left to do some sight seeing so we bartered for a tuk tuk which cost us 25p for 4 hours. We went to a temple and saw how the locals prey to the Buddha, then we were taken to the lucky Buddha, when we got there, there wasnt any other tourists and then a local told us that this was because this place was a secret and very lucky so we felt very priveleged :-) and then onto the 45ft golden buddha, this was amazing. By now i had started to feel unwell, I have now realised this is because of the Malaria tablets as the rest of the group also had the same symptoms.
At 6pm we then met our tour guide and the 14 other people who we would spend the next 27 days with. There are 12 girls and 2 guys, one of which of the guys was a very very moody and ruuuuuuude German! grrrrrrrr, we havnt seen much of him! ha! The other guy is Harley he is with his girlfriend Tieren. All of the other girls are aged between 18- 27, great group of people and we all get along so well! Good times!
So we reconvened for dinner that evening and I had to eat bread and sausage as i still felt sick, could not stomach the thai food right at that moment! How embarrasssing eating bread and sausage is Asia :-( but it did the jobn and i was back feeling tip top the next day.
So that was Bangkok! Crazy, mad and a wicked place! Onto the next jeg of our adevnture, bring it on!
